The front

The Cottage is an old restored building on early, possibly Saxon, foundations. forming part of one the burgage plots of the original Norman settlement of the eleventh century. For many centuries the building was used as a commercial premises. Access is via a yard which is shared with the owners sixteenth-century, Grade-2 listed town house and with a small late-medieval barn-like building.   Parking is off-street in either the yard area, or there is garaging with an electric vehicle charging point (metered).  There is also secure bicycle storage available.

Behind the cottage is its own peaceful courtyard garden, gated off from the owners’ garden  providing security for children and dogs,   with views across the town to  the surrounding hills. It is looked down on by the ‘writer’s gargoyle’ and a tree house.

The courtyard

Accomodation in the cottage consists of downstairs living and well-equipped kitchen area (including  with  a dish-washer) with french windows onto the courtyard; an entrance hall; downstairs walk-in shower and toilet; two upstairs bedrooms; upstairs bathroom with toilet. Both bedrooms  are super-pleasant and peaceful.   Bedroom one has a double bed.  Bedroom two has a single bed, and a second truckle bed.   Both bedrooms have views out to the surrounding hills. The cottage is suitable for up to three adults or two adults with two young children who don’t mind sharing. Dogs are welcome but only downstairs, and not on the seating.
